A Christian’s view on Death and Eternal Life.

Dying is inevitable, and there is no person who has lived forever. But most people in the world view death as a closed door behind which there is nothing but emptiness. But my faith and the teachings of the Church suggest the complete opposite. Death for us is the beginning of the eternal life.

In the Catechism of the Catholic Church it says that Christ was created in the form of man in order to destroy death and allow mankind an opportunity to live together with the angels in the presence of God. Originally God created man to be with him, in Paradise and to live forever. But because the evil one- Satan, tempted our first parents- Adam and Eve, and when they fell into sin, death entered into the world. But God made a plan for the salvation of mankind and that is sending His only son Jesus Christ, to give His life for our sake, so that we may enter into eternal life.

I believe in the resurrection of the dead on the last day, which is Judgment day, when God will bring back to life all who have dies, and reward each one according to their life on earth. Those who have stood firm in their faith and believed in God and in the salvation through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ will be welcomed into God’s own kingdom. In this Kingdom there will be an everlasting banquet called the messianic banquet where all God’s chosen people will be gathered together in the Lord.

This is why, for a Christian death is not a time of sadness, but of rejoicing. Because we have faith that, whoever has died, will soon be in the presence of God and all the saints and angels. And this is Good news, this is what brings Salvation.
