Every year every corner light up with Pandal decors that come up with variant themes and idols. And with the ‘Bijaya Dashami’ the idols are immersed.

But this year, only one idol is not immersed. And it’s the 8000 kg Durga statue that will not be immersed.

Yes, you heard it right. It weighs 8000 kg and is carved out of stone. A Puja Pandal of South Kolkata, made by Vivekananda Park Athletic Club has placed this idol and designed it in ancient style, like a historical time zone. The idol of Goddess Durga is dedicated to world peace.

The 8000 kg idol stands as high as around 10.5 foot and is made up from sand stones that have been brought from Rajasthan.

The president of the club committee, Satyabrata Samanta says, “We have tried to make the heaviest idol ever, with stunning stone carving. The beautiful setup of this pandal is a treat to the eyes for people who love art, especially in Bengal. We will preserve the idol and not immerse it.”
