The Navy Day is observed on 4th of December every year to give honour and celebrate the achievements of the Indian Navy and the sacrifices made by the Navy’s personnel. The date holds back of the victory brought for India by the Indian Navy in the war against Pakistan in 1971. 4th December commemorates the launch of Operation Trident. It was a massive and worth remembering attack on the Pakistan Naval Headquarters of Karachi.

The operation was a big success. The attack was carried out at night as Pakistan did not have aircrafts that could operate bombings at night. There were no causalities incurred on India while 700 men and 5 Pakistani sailors were injured when India attacked Pakistan.

The Navy Day in India reflects the victory won by our brave naval armies and personnel. And it also reflects the journey which collected progress over the last 70 years.
