According to the American Heart Association’s statistics, 30 percent of all deaths are due to cardiovascular disease that is diseases relating to the heart and blood cells. Heart diseases rates are increasing rapidly even due to parallel diseases like diabetes, obesity and addictions like smoking. So what can you do to make sure that you never get a heart disease? Here are a few things that you have to avoid if you want your heart to be healthy.

1. Smoking

Smoking is one of the top 3 risk factors of a heart disease around the world. Smoking can lead to blood clots in the arteries and ventricles which can block the blood flow to and from the heart. Stop smoking today!

2. Not exercising

Whether for work or for leisure, sitting down and watching TV or working without breaks in between can be disastrous to your health. This is because your body’s absence of constant movement can affect the blood level of fats and sugars. Get up and take a walk every now and then. Or schedule for yourself a regular simple, yet effective exercising regimen.

3. Not Flossing

All people have time for these days, is brushing, done very quickly and not at all thoroughly. But all studies suggest a long standing link between gum disease and heart disease.

4. Overeating

13 percent of the world’s population is obese according to 2016 statistics. Especially eating junk and processed foods are now becoming the norm for adults and even very young children. Obesity is a major risk factor for heart diseases and can lead to high cholesterol levels which are incredibly bad for your heart leading to blockages in the blood flow. Obesity also induces diabetes which may lead to heart attacks.

5. Thinking you are not at risk

We always assume we have completely healthy hearts and there is no way that I will have a heart disease but this is one of the biggest problems. Considering how many people actually die of these types of diseases, every single person should know that they too are at a risk of having cardiovascular diseases and should go for regular checkups.    

Risk factors are so many, and should be kept in check vigilantly.

6. Excessive salt consumption


All those chips and other salty snacks may be tasty but they are extremely unhealthy. Consuming too many salty foods and snacks can lead to high blood pressure which can lead to heart attacks. 

7. Eating too much red meat

If you are a regular meat devourer it’s time to stop and take a step back. Meat has a high content of fats which is a risk factor for heart disease as well as changing a protein produced in our body called carnitine into a compound that hardens the artery walls in the heart.

8. Disregarding your snoring
   
Snoring in some situations may indicate that a person has Obstructive Sleep Apnea which means that they experience pauses in breathing at least 5 to 30 times an hour which makes them gasp for air, awakening them suddenly, all throughout the sleep. This directly corresponds to high blood pressure- a high risk factor for heart disease.

9. Skipping breakfast

Not eating this vital meal to start the day leads to the formation of plaques which are formations of fats, calcium and other substances which build up in the hearts arteries making them narrow leading to restricted blood flow. This condition is called atherosclerosis which can lead to heart attacks and other cardiovascular problems.

10. Withdrawing from the world


If you are feeling stressed there are many ways to help yourself. But usually people go for unhealthy solution like withdrawing from everyone else and internalizing the stress which puts them in an increased danger. Other bad habits like smoking, overeating and not exercising are risk factors we’ve already covered. The solution is speaking to someone about what stresses you out and constantly surround yourself with your family and friends.
