1. Application of heat 

Applying mild heat is very effective during menstrual cramps. It lowers down the pain and also takes you out of the discomfort that you are facing out of menstrual cramps and pains. A heat patch of the temperature at 104 degree Fahrenheit i.e. 40 degree Celsius is very effective. A hot water bag will also work the same. Place the heating pad or hot water bottle or bag on the tummy or lower back. It give you comfort and reduces the menstrual cramps.

2. Take a warm bath

Take a hot water bath or a warm bath. Do not burn yourself with overheating the temperature of the water. A lukewarm water or mild hot temperature of the bath water will work well. It calms all your muscle, soothes down your period or menstrual cramps.

3. Avoid eating

• Alcohol
• Caffeine 
• Carbonated sodas and beverages
• Salty foods
• Fatty foods

These foods can increase menstrual cramps and pains. Avoiding these foods can decrease the chances of period pains.

4. Drinking lukewarm water

Drinking lukewarm water or ginger or mint teas will reduce your pains. Make sure the drinks are caffeine free.

Natural herbs are beneficial for menstrual cramps and pains. The herbs contain antispasmodic and anti-inflammatory compounds that help reduce period pains. It is believed to reduce muscle contractions and swelling that is associated with period pains. Fennel seeds, ginger, cinnamon, chamomile tea etc works well during the pains and cramps. 6. Exercise, yoga and stretching
