People Volunteer to Cuddle Drug-Addicted Babies In Order To Help Them Heal

All human babies are in need of various things, milk, sleep and someone to clean their smelly messes. But one more vital need is touch. A mother’s touch is what makes the baby feel secure and loved. Unfortunately, there are babies born, whose mothers are addicted to drugs. These babies are then themselves born with an addiction.

In various Neonatal Infant Care Units (NICUs) all across America are taken and looked after especially as they go through something as terrible as withdrawal so early in their lives.

There is a new program called the “Cuddle program” which allows anyone who would like to volunteer to cuddle and hold babies who are fighting these horrible drug addictions.

The results are simply amazing! Babies that receive cuddles from these estranged cuddle buddies were seen to require a lot less medication and were sent home faster.

The whole idea for these cuddle programs was an incredible one. Volunteers themselves have wonderful experiences because well, they got to cuddle with cute babies all day long, I would hardly call that volunteering! It’s more like a wonderful way to spend time.

If these amazing programs came to India, I would be the first to sign up! What about you?
