To save your skin from dryness only products are not enough. It requires proper health maintenance. And not to mention, a proper healthy diet. Moreover, there are natural elements that are already gifted by the nature for you to prevent your skin from dryness and give you a healthy body, even in the winter.

So here are the natural remedies you can try to prevent your skin from getting dry and flaky:

1. Use milk

Applying milk on skin apart from consuming it can also aid in giving you a healthier skin. Milk has got anti-inflammatory properties that help soothing out dry and flaky skin. Milk also got soothing and moisturising properties. You can soak a washcloth in cold milk and put in on your dry skin for few minutes. Then rinse it off in lukewarm water. It naturally moisturises your skin.

2. Honey is a natural moisturizer

Honey is best known for its moisturising effect. It smoothens and softens your skin. Honey contains humectants properties, antioxidants and antimicrobial properties. It improves the health of your skin by locking in all the moistures and smoothening it from outside. Before taking a bath or shower apply honey all over to your body, leave it for few minutes and rinse off. It will smoothen and soften your skin and all your dryness is gone. Repeat this often for better results.

3. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil is good for dry skin. It has fatty acids that boost natural health of body by retaining the moisture inside the skin. Furthermore, it acts as a deep cleanser, taking out all the clogged pores and dry dead cells. Be it a solidified oil or in a liquid form, coconut oil is non greasy and acts as a shield to your skin. Apply it on your body before going to sleep and after shower. It will make up loss of moisture.

4. Yogurt

Yogurt increases the moisture content of the skin. It helps rejuvenating the skin once applied. On top of that, the lactic acids present in the yogurt helps to hydrate the skin and eliminate the tired look. One can apply yogurt on the face and body before taking a bath, either as it is or one can add honey or papaya along with it. It softens your skin leaving it fresh and hydrated.

5. Milk Cream

Fresh milk cream works best for the dry skin. It has got many natural benefits that not only prevents you from getting a dry skin but also helps you gain a fresh younger looking skin. The lactic acid present in it serves as a soothing element for the skin, exfoliating all the dry skin and preserving the skin’s pH level. You can apply generous amount of fresh milk cream on face and body or you can add lemon with it.

6. Keep your body hydrated

Applying things from outside is not the only thing to be done when your body is getting dry. You need to keep your body hydrated from within. Hence, drink water, plenty of water. It maintains blood circulation, supplies oxygen and other important nutrients and minerals. Minimum a three litre intake of water is a must for all. It will remove all the toxins out of the body, cools you down and keep skin hydrated and supple. Not only water, sip some fresh fruit juice and fruits with high water content, like watermelon, celery, cucumber etc. It will balance the water loss from your body during winter and keep it hydrated always.

7. Use non-clogging oils for moisturizing

Choose a healthy and natural alternative for moisturisers. Instead of moisturisers present in the market, go for natural ones, such as oils. Choose oils according to your skin suitability. It’s best to use non-greasy and non-clogging oil for your skin. You want to lock in and add moisture, but you also must ensure that your skin breathes. Hence oils like almond oil, primrose oil, coconut oil, avocado oil works on your skin, without clogging your pores.

8. Avoid extreme hot baths

It’s very obvious that in winter one feels like having a hot water bath. But extreme hot water bath can break down the lipid barriers of the skin making loss of moisture content from our body. Lukewarm water works fine enough and no need to burn your skin cells down with extreme hot water or shower.
