West Bengal is Now on top spot in the domestic Ease of Doing Business

West Bengal is now more conductive to doing business, offering satisfactory environment.

Out of 29 States and 7 Union territories, West Bengal is on Top Spot of domestic Ease of Doing Business- an index created by the Central Government in Collaboration with World Bank. With 99.73% score, West Bengal has Left all the States behind on the 340-Point Business Reform Action Plan (BRAP), followed by Chattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh tied at 99.46%.

As the index updated on a real-time basis ranking Changes unexpected. In the past, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, both, had also bagged the top position. In this new List, States which are in top 10 position are - Haryana with 99.46%, Rajasthan with 99.19%, Gujarat with 99.19%, Andhra Pradesh with 98.92%, Jharkhand with 98.92%, Telangana with 98.37%, and Karnataka with 98.37%.

This index was created with the idea of creating healthy competition between States to improve ease of doing business. Out of 29 States and 7 Union territories 18 states have submitted documents to claim a perfect score in this recent report of Finance Express. No State Yet scored perfect 100% since index created in 20015.

The other states than West Bengal that have claimed a perfect score are Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Gujarat and Haryana. It is interesting to note that Mumbai (Maharastra) and New Delhi is out of Top 10 List. Maharashtra is at 13th rank with 97.29%, while Delhi at 34.17%. These two cities are actually count for World Bank’s Ease of  Doing Business.
