All-Woman Staff to Manage Kolkata's Metro Station.

Marking the International Women's Day, an all women team was posted at Netaji Bhavan station by Kolkata Metro Rail authority. This station will be completely run by Kolkata Metro's women recruits, counting the station superintendent, booking clerks, point operator, commercial porters, RPF personnel, station porter and sweepers.

It is indeed a great way to generate employment among women in the city and it is a step towards women empowerment.

Kolkata Metro Rail's CPRO Indrani Banerjee stated- “Netaji Bhavan station, from where country's first underground metro rail's maiden run began on October 24 in 1984, will be entirely managed by our women staffers and we are very happy to announce the endeavour to empower our women workforce on International Women's Day,"

We are really hoping that other states take Kolkata as an example and follow its lead to walk towards women empowerment and smash patriarchy together!
