According to Chinese astrology, every year is coupled with a Chinese zodiac animal as per the 12-year cycle. People who are born in the Year of the Dog are assumed to be independent, truthful, outgoing and faithful.

Tangra will start with its festivities on Thursday evening along with a big carnival. Lightshows and fireworks are also going to take place after offering prayers in the temples. The jam-packed neighbourhood of Chatawala Gali, Lu Hsien Sarani and Tiretti Bajar in central Kolkata are also gearing up for this festival of joy. If you are to walk through the lanes of Old China Town, you are sure to notice the  dainty paper lamps and red paper cuttings put up as decorations.. #LunarNewYear. #SpringFestival2018 #CNY018
