He became the President of India in the Year 1962. Since then on 5th September is observed as Teacher’s Day.

Not only his Student respected him but also so many politicians of that time also loved and respected him. One of his closest friends and India’s First Prime Minister, Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru said about him: "He has served his country in many capacities. But above all, he is a great teacher from whom all of us have learned much and will continue to learn. It is India's peculiar privilege to have a great philosopher, a great educationist and a great humanist as her President. That in itself shows the kind of men we honor and respect."
